6 months living in my Transit Custom

Just wrapped up 6 months touring Scotland and the north coast in my self-converted Transit Custom. Biggest lesson: invest in good insulation upfront - I cheaped out and regretted it by November. Happy to answer questions about the layout or the off-grid setup!

Don't forget about payload!

A tip I wish someone told me before my first build: weigh everything BEFORE you install it. It's incredibly easy to blow past 3.5 tonnes with a full kitchen, water tank, solar and leisure batteries. Pop down to a weighbridge early and often.

Best budget base vehicle for a first build?

I've got around £8k to spend on a base vehicle for my first conversion. I'm torn between a VW T5 and a Renault Trafic. The T5 holds its value better but the Trafic gives you more space for the money. What would you choose?
