Best budget base vehicle for a first build?

I've got around £8k to spend on a base vehicle for my first conversion. I'm torn between a VW T5 and a Renault Trafic. The T5 holds its value better but the Trafic gives you more space for the money. What would you choose?

Hi, It all depends on how you're going to use the van, how many people will sleep in it, will you go off-grid and how often? The T5 is a fantastic van, but only for short trips and usually only on sites, as there is no room for a shower and the toilet is really only for emergency use. A Renault traffic, or a boxer, is a better option of you want to install a shower and off-grid electrical capability. Hope this helps.
